Cultivating Communities Marra Farm is nine acres of Seattle Parks owned
land located in a low-income ethnically diverse South Seattle neighborhood.
My thesis is a 20 year master plan that seeks to maximize the benefits
ofan urban farm for the communities that use it. Derived from a
year long process of community surveys and in-depth interviews,
the vision is to make Marra Farm a city wide agricultural learning
center while meeting the open space and food security needs of nearby
residents. The final design balances ecological and agricultural
uses, connects to neighbors and the nearby elementary school, and
integrates landscape and architectural forms. |
